been reading odds and sods by pierre bonnard & i’m struck by the possibilities he offers in conjunction with giacommetti…
the hand that delivers the paint, the eye which channels the light… it is the totality of sensation & organisation which produces a painting.
most paintings seem complacent – an image – if cleverly, & very frequently not cleverly, transcribed. doesn’t matter whether art be conceptual, or not, most seems complacent.
i am very taken with something which i can only describe as ‘the face unseen’ that which is but is not… a visual conundrum. hum.
